The U.S. Attorney's Office announced that Burlington Nieuenkirk, 47, of Brooklyn, has been sentenced to five years and five months in prison for illegally having three loaded firearms as a felon.
GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Attorney's Office announced that Burlington Nieuenkirk, 47, of Brooklyn, has been sentenced to five years and five months in prison for illegally having three loaded firearms as a felon. Nieuenkirk pleaded guilty on August 17, 2023.
Nieuenkirk admitted to possessing three loaded pistols at a home in Green Island back in April of 2020, one of which had been reported stolen. He was not legally permitted to own the guns in New York due to a prior felony conviction for robbery.
In addition to his prison sentence, Nieuenkirk was ordered to serve a three-year post-release term of supervision. The case was investigated by the Albany County Sheriff's Office, the Albany County District Attorney's Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
