European giants willing to sell key player to sign Liverpool star Luis Diaz
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have resumed their chase of Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz.
Barcelona’s top goal under Hansi Flick’s leadership is to bolster the left side of their starting lineup because of their lack of options on the left wing.
To get the 27-year-old Colombian Luis Díaz from Liverpool, they are considering selling Raphinha.
Despite Raphinha’s 20 goals and 25 assists in 87 appearances, there are rumours that the 27-year-old—whose contract expires in 2027—may be moving on to other pastures.
With three years remaining on his current deal, Diaz is not someone Liverpool want to lose anytime soon.
The 27-year-old was signed by the Anfield club from FC Porto in January 2022 for a fee of £50 million including add-ons (via Daily Mail).
In 98 games since then, he has contributed 24 goals and 13 assists.
After the departure of Jurgen Klopp from Anfield, a number of players have been linked with a move away from Liverpool.
Diaz is a player that has attracted interest from La Liga giants Barcelona and they are ready to sacrifice one of their most important players to sign the Colombian winger.
They consider him to be an improvement over Raphinha, who plays on the left side since Lamine Yamal occupies the opposite flank and is primarily a right-footed player.
The Brazilian had an offer from Saudi Arabia to leave Barcelona, but he is not interested in moving to the Middle East.
Before going to Merseyside for Diaz, they are awaiting additional bids for the former Leeds United man.
But according to reports, Deco, the sporting director, and his staff think the Colombian is a fantastic match.
They think he is the right age and has the mentality to take on any opponent.
With 51 appearances in all competitions, 10 goals, and five assists, Diaz was an integral player for Liverpool last season.
Liverpool should make sure Diaz stays
The Reds should keep the player at Anfield and make sure they keep the core of the team together as new manager Arne Slot prepares to start his tenure at the club.
Diaz is a starter at Anfield and offers them pace and width, however, he can work more on his finishing to become a better player.
He is a crucial part of Liverpool’s attack and the Merseyside club should only consider selling him if the offer is financially too good to refuse.
