PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Streetcar service is shut down near 23rd and Northrup due to a 3 to 6-inch sinkhole forming under the asphalt in Northwest Portland.
Portland Streetcar spokesperson Andrew Plambeck told KOIN 6 News that a TriMet shuttle bus is serving the affected NS Line stops from 14th and Northrup to 13th and Lovejoy.
"[The sinkhole] appears — under the asphalt — to be at least 3 feet deep," Plambeck said.
Portland Bureau of Transportation workers are at the scene digging up the damaged roadway. Plambeck said that the affected stretch of the NS Line may be closed until Sunday. Shuttle busses will continue to operate along the route until the repairs are complete.
