Say “don’t blink” and every mom will know exactly what you’re talking about. Because our babies grow up so fast, if you blink, you’ll miss it! Sharna Burgess has firmly kept her eyes open throughout her son Zane’s life, but she is still in a state of shock over how much — and how quickly — her almost-2-year-old has grown. She shared a new photo of her heart-meltingly cute toddler, who she shares with fiancé Brian Austin Green, and moms definitely felt her pain.
“When did you get this big?” she began the recent post on Instagram along with what could be a model shot of her beautiful son. He gazes at the camera with big blue eyes and long blonde hair, with colorful flowers surrounding him.
The Dancing With The Stars pro continued, “I can’t believe Zane is almost 2 years old. A moment ago I created a post for his first birthday and then time jumped to now. And though I don’t know how it happened I also remember every single second of it. Every new word, every new experience or emotion. Every hard day and every good day. I just can’t believe they went so fast.” Aww! We totally get it. Even if you do your best to hold on tightly to every moment, time still slips through your fingers like sand. (Also, can we talk about how impressive it is that her memory is this good?!)
She’s relishing this moment in time in the best way possible in the digital age, though: by making Zane her phone background. She shared that the photo was taken at the farmer’s market and “is my new wallpaper ????.”
“LMK when you learn how to slow down time plz/thnx!!” one person commented. “Omg he’s adorable. Time goes so fast,” another wrote. Someone else said, “Time truly is a thief ???????? He is so beautiful and you are so blessed!”
Burgess welcomed son Zane in June 2022 and got engaged to Green in the summer of 2023. (Green is also dad to Noah, 11, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, 7, with ex Megan Fox, and Kassius, 21, with ex Vanessa Marcil.) The Australian dancer was just as sentimental on her son’s first birthday as she is ahead of his second birthday.
“My little squish is officially my little boy,” she wrote on Instagram. “My opinionated, sweet, smart, curious, generous, affectionate and giggly little boy. This year has gone by so fast that i find myself holding onto him even more now with this silent wish that time would slow down just a little. But it doesn’t, it’s a thief and a reminder to be present not just for him but for myself. These moments will never happen again. I only get a few years of being his everything, 10 at most, and I’m gonna make the most of every single one.”
Ten at most?! Don’t make us cry, Burgess! In her lengthy post, the proud mom also called Zane “the greatest blessing to our blended family.” She added, “He has solidified this bond and I think helped the kids trust that this family is forever together. The love in this home is unreal and I had no idea it could be this wonderful. I’m overwhelmed, I’m emotional and I’m ridiculously happy.”
The good thing about kids growing up is that our love for them grows too. It’ll be OK, Burgess!
