Watch footballer punch rival in face in furious fit of rage as fans demand lifetime ban for moment of madness

FANS are calling for a lifetime ban for DR Congo star Ruth Kipoyi after she punched an opponent in the face.

Shortly after half-time Kipoyi fouled an opponent, sparking a huge melee.

A Morocco defender objected to Kipoyi’s aggressive challenge and the pair began pushing and shoving as the referee brandished a red card.

Another Morroco star got involved and attempted to move Kipoyi away before being punched in the face by the Galatasaray Women’s star.

She immediately fell to the ground and got up to her knees as the medical team ran on to provide help.

The shocking incident has led fans to call for a huge ban for Kipoyi, 26.

One reacted saying: “This should be a lifelong ban from football? How can this happen on a football pitch?”

Another added: “That’s so crazy.”

A third wrote: “Lifelong ban.”

And another commented: “Police should be involved.”

Football's biggest bans

1. Olafur Gottskalksson – lifetime ban

The goalkeeper was banned by the FA indefinitely for failing to take a drugs test while playing for Torquay in 2005.

Gottskalksson disappeared when testors showed up at the training ground over fears cocaine would show up in his system.

2. Enoch West – 30 years

The former Manchester United player was banned for match fixing along with three team-mates.

They all had their bans lifted after enlisting for World War 1, but West never did.

3. Bradley Wood – Six years

Wood was banned after a tribunal found he had deliberately been booked during Lincoln’s FA Cup victories over Ipswich Town and Burnley during the 2016/17 season.

4. Chris Buckley – 17 months

After signing for Aston Villa in 1912 Buckley refused to play as he believed he was owed £250 by the club.

Villa claimed he was in breach of contract, suspended him indefinitely and reported it to the League. The League commission decided Buckley’s demands were illegal and suspended him until April 1914.

5. Joey Barton – 13 months

The controversial figure was banned in April 2017 after admitting to betting-related charges – 1,260 bets on football matches between 2006-2016.

His ban was later reduced by five months after an appeal.

Kipoyi left the pitch after the incident as tensions cooled.

Morroco went on to win the match 3-2, having been leading 2-1 at the time of the red card.
