Zach Bryan is on top of the charts with his new song “Pink Skies,” but he doesn’t want it to be a pop hit.
The 28-year-old country singer just debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the new song and he was not happy when it was reported that the track was delivered to pop radio.
Zach replied to a tweet about the song going to pop radio and wrote, “This is f–ked, I never approved this, why is Pink Skies at Pop radio.”
“PINK SKIES IS NOT A POP SONG,” he later tweeted, adding, “Make your own music if you don’t like mine I can assure you I do not care… guys you have to send songs to radio, like you have to be like, ‘yeah I’m okay with that’ going which way or the other.”
In the end, it was all a misunderstanding, but Zach‘s thoughts on pop music are now forever known.

After a radio website clarified its messaging, Zach tweeted, “Sorry for cursing so much earlier. It was a misunderstanding and I’ve been watching too much House of Cards on my time off let’s goOOO CALIFORNIA.”

The song is about a funeral with some fans believing that Zach is singing about his mom’s funeral. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 49.
Zach sings to begin the song, “The kids are in town for a funeral / So pack the car and dry your eyes / I know they got plenty of young blood left in ‘em / And plenty nights under pink skies you taught ‘em to enjoy.”
