FOXBOROUGH, MA— The New England Revolution II (3-2-5, 13 pts.) tied NYCFC II (3-3-3, 13 pts) in a 3-3 match, but defeated them 4-3 in penalties on Sunday afternoon.
The match kicked off at 3:00 p.m. ET at Oulette Stadium in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

The team started their lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with goalkeeper Max Weinstein starting in the net with a backline of (left back) Eric Klein, (center backs) Victor Souza and Santiago Suarez, along with (right back) Hesron Barry. The midfield consisted of Lucas Maciel(left), Patrick Leal (center), and Luka Borovic (right). The forward roles were manned by Malcolm Fry (left), Alex Monis (right), and Marcos Dias (central) as the lone striker.
Defender Victor Souza wore the captain’s armband.

The match kicked off with NYCFC starting from the center circle. They elected to quickly launch the ball into New England’s defensive third.
Just 6 minutes into the match, NYCFC took the early lead.
Forward #27 Jonathan Jiménez found midfielder #42 Piero Elias, who then found #43 Christopher Tiao at the back post for the simple finish to make it 1-0.
Entering the 23rd minute, New England leveled the match.
Following a through-ball over the top by midfielder Lucas Maciel, Marcos Dias chested the ball down before a simple right-footed finish into the bottom right corner past goalkeeper #30 Tomás Romero.
New England had yet another chance in the 26th minute, coming from an over-the-top through ball, that was taken down by Alex Monis. His chip attempt was blocked off the line and cleared.
In the 33rd minute, drama ensued and NYCFC were given a penalty kick after defender Victor Souza took down #47 Klevis Haxhari inside the penalty area.
The ensuing penalty kick taken by midfielder #42 Piero Elias was buried into the bottom right corner for the 2-1 advantage.
New England’s next chance came in the 37th minute when Marcos Dias’ long distance effort went just wide of the right post.
NYCFC’s next chance came in the 42nd minute when #42 Piero Elias shot was blocked and saved by Max Weinstein.
Just before the 45th minute, NYCFC defender #31 Samuel Owusu was issued a yellow card for fouling Alex Monis.

Prior to the start of the second half, Revolution II head coach Richie Williams made his first change of the match by replacing Malcolm Fry with Gevork Diarbian.
The second half kicked off with New England starting from the center circle. They quickly launched the ball into NYCFC’s defensive third.
Alex Monis had the first chance of the half when his effort was met with a clutch save by goalkeeper #30 Tomás Romero.

After driving up the left flank, midfielder #99 Taylor Calheira unleashed a right-footed shot that went into the top left corner to add to the advantage.
In the 54th minute, Revolution midfielder Patrick Leal was issued a yellow card.
As the match entered the 59th minute, Revolution II head coach Richie Williams made his second change of the match by replacing Luka Borovic with Damario McIntosh.
New England had yet another chance in the 60th minute when shots by Alex Monis and Gevork Diarbian were both cleared.
NYCFC had yet another amazing opportunity in the 66th minute when #68 Christopher Tiao’s backpost effort struck the post and was cleared.
In the 68th minute, Revolution defender Victor Souza was issued a yellow card for fouling #99 Taylor Calheira.
Following the foul, NYCFC II head coach Matt Pilkington made his first change of the match by replacing defender #63 Matthew Leong with defender #61 Alexander Hauschild. Revolution II head coach Richie Williams also made his final two changes of the match by replacing Santiago Suarez and Lucas Maciel with Liam Butts and Moshtaba Al-Hasnawi.

In the 79th minute, Revolution II defender Eric Klein was issued a yellow card.
Less than 1 minute later, in the 80th minute, New England pulled one back.
Midfielder Gevork Diarbian drove down the left flank and set a low-driven cross to find midfielder Liam Butts for the close-range finish to make it 3-2.
Entering the 87th minute, New England leveled the match.
Following a corner kick delivery by Patrick Leal, the ball was won with a commanding header by defender Eric Klein for his first career goal. The match is now level at 3-3.
