The Head of the National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan reported on the increase of terrorist groups in northern Afghanistan during a security meeting in Bishkek.
Kamchybek Tashiev, the Head of Security in Kyrgyzstan, once again expressed concerns over the increasing terrorism threat emanating from Afghanistan soil.
According to TASS, Tashiev stated on Friday, May 24, during a security meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, that terrorist organizations and their financial backers are seeking to exploit social and political tensions worldwide.
The Kyrgyz official said, “The number of terrorists in northern Afghanistan provinces is growing to pose a threat to the integrity of the southern borders of the CIS member states.”
However, he did not provide further details on which terrorist groups are growing in northern Afghanistan provinces.
Member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have repeatedly expressed concerns over the increasing terrorism threat from Afghanistan soil.
These countries have emphasized that preventive measures to reduce security threats from Afghanistan must be taken.
Two days ago, on the eve of Kazakhstan’s summit, members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) also emphasized the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism threats from the country.
