ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place around 2 a.m. on Friday. Police say a 36-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of 1118 Broadway, Ciro's Gentlemen's Place, and was pronounced dead on the scene after responders attempted emergency medical aid.
Police say a preliminary investigation found the victim was involved in a dispute in the parking lot of 1118 Broadway. During the dispute, the victim was shot multiple times.
Ciro's Gentlemen's Place released the following statement regarding the incident:
"Ciro's Gentlemen's Place, located at 1118 Broadway, Albany, NY, wishes to address the unfortunate events that transpired early this morning. Daniel Cadalso, the President of the company, asserts that this incident is unlike anything that has ever occurred at the establishment in its long history of operation.
First and foremost, our thoughts are with those affected by this morning's tragic events," said Cadalso. "In the over twenty-five years that we have been in operation, Ciro's Gentlemen's Place has always prioritized the safety and well-being of our patrons. We have consistently worked hard to provide a safe and enjoyable environment where our customers can relax and enjoy a good evening of entertainment."
Following a thorough review of the events leading up to the incident, it has been determined that no disputes or disagreements took place inside the club. The atmosphere within the club remained calm and friendly throughout the evening. The tragic incident appears to have stemmed from an ongoing prior dispute between two parties, which unfortunately escalated after a brief exchange of words in the parking lot. This exchange did not initially appear to be heated or confrontational.
"We have an impeccable history with the police, with no prior incidents of this nature. This is a complete aberration," added Cadalso. "Our club has always been a place where people can enjoy great service, a fantastic atmosphere, and quality drinks while enjoying top-notch entertainment. This incident is not reflective of our values or the experience we strive to offer our patrons."
Ciro's Gentlemen's Place remains committed to maintaining a secure and welcoming environment. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities as they investigate this matter, and we will continue to take every measure possible to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our patrons."
Police have not identified the victim at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Albany Police at (518) 462-8029.
