ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police say two people died in Thursday's I-87 crash in Albany. Sabrina Bermudez, 50, Ludlow, Massachusetts, and Paul Keiley, 64, Rockville Centre, both succumbed to their injuries on scene.
Troopers responded Thursday to a tractor-trailer rollover with serious injuries on I-87. New York State Police say an investigation found the tractor-trailer, that was traveling north, struck a concrete barrier separating northbound and southbound traffic.
The collision caused the tractor-trailer to overturn onto a northbound passenger car. The driver of the tractor-trailer and passenger were taken to Albany Medical Center. Bermudez was a passenger in the tractor-trailer, and Keiley was the passenger car's driver.
Both succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Police say the vehicle passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged. The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered serious injuries and is in stable but critical condition at the hospital.
I-87 northbound was closed between Exits 23 and 24 for roughly eight hours for collision reconstruction and has since reopened. An investigation is ongoing.
