Alan Shearer says Tottenham star is better than Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka

Alan Shearer has said that he would have Son Heung-min in his best Premier League eleven over Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.

Son has been incredibly consistent since arriving at Tottenham back in 2015, regularly registering over 20 goal contributions season in, and season out.

The Tottenham captain’s record in the Premier League is quite astounding, with the forward having scored 120 times and provided 62 assists in 303 matches in the English top flight (Transfermarkt).

The fact that despite being widely considered to have had a normal season, he has still finished the 2023-24 campaign with a whopping 17 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League, shows the kind of standards that the forward has set since arriving in England.

Alan Shearer says Son is better than Saka

Shearer unsurprisingly found a place for the South Korean in his best eleven from the Premier League, with the Newcastle legend having him in the side over Saka despite the Arsenal star’s astonishing rise over the last few years.

The pundit said on BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast (as relayed by TBR Football): “I’ve got Son, I’m going for Son. I was either going to put Saka or Son, but I’m going to put Son. He’s that good. I was just thinking about where I could put him in, but, Son.”

Just the sheer longevity of Son’s achievements means that he is deserving of a place in the best Premier League eleven over the likes of Saka.

I agree with Postecoglou’s sentiment that the Spurs star would be more regularly talked about as one of the best players in the world if he was from Spain, England, France, Brazil or one of the other traditional footballing powerhouses.
