EASTENDERS fans have predicted a surprise new romance could possibly be on the cards after noticing one character’s ‘crush’.
Eagle-eyed viewers of the BBC soap have speculated that one close friendship could be something more or at least from one of the character’s perspective.
Speculation is rife that Nugget Gulati may have actually begun to develop feelings for his close friend, Denzel Danes.
Nugget and Denzel are partners-in-crime and rarely spend any time apart but many EastEnders fans now think that Nugget has a major ‘crush’ on his best pal.
This week, Denzel failed to sleep with his girlfriend Amy for the first time as a result of his deep steroid addiction as part of an underage sex plot line.
It saw him lash out at his girlfriend in embarrassment during the tense scenes.
Afterwards, Nugget attempted to kiss Amy himself but it developed no further.
However, a day later, Nugget lied to Denzel and said that Amy came onto him after he failed to perform in the bedroom.
It saw the trio clash with Amy later ripping Nugget for following Denzel’s every move.
However, Nugget staunchly defended his best pal and appeared uncomfortable at the thought of him following him around.
He told Amy: “He will get over it, chill out.”
Seeing Denzel and Amy’s split as a good thing, he then made a VERY telling comment which has sparked rumours of a potential romance.
He added to Amy: “You know what, maybe all this is for the best, yeah?
“You don’t want Denz, but he is my boy!
“We don’t need you coming between us now, do we?”
Fans now think Nugget purposefully lied in order for Denzel to leave Amy in the chance that he could potentially woo his pal.
Writing online, one fan said: “I think Nugget has a crush on Denzel.”
Someone else said: “It could be interesting, potentially a chance to see more of him and Suki together if she supports him through this.”
A third penned: “He might have [a crush]. It would explain how supportive/didn’t mind Suki being gay when she came out to him. Nugget does seem to follow him around a lot.”
“That would finally give Ravi a storyline too,” chimed in a fourth before another added: “Who thinks Nugget might be gay or have feelings for Denzel for a later storyline?”
One speculated: “Nugget deffo fancies Denzel.”
As someone else suggested that the feelings could be mutual but with a dark twist, writing: “My theory is that Nugget’s crush will end up reciprocated, he will get very ill off the steroids Denzel gives him and there’ll be a big hospital drama.
“It’ll make them both realise their true feelings.”
