Journalist shares what he has heard about Postecoglou’s behaviour in training 

The Times reporter Tom Allnutt has said that while Ange Postecoglou is not one to get too close to his players, the Australian behaves very differently from his predecessor, Antonio Conte.

Tottenham’s results have been extremely poor over the past couple of months and the Lilywhites could potentially even see themselves finish below Chelsea if they lose against Sheffield United in the final game of the season.

Some would feel that Postecoglou is now showing signs of cracking under pressure, with the Australian making headlines after Tottenham’s loss against Manchester City on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old insisted that the days leading up to the game had shown him that the foundations both inside and outside the club are ‘fragile’ (Football.London).

While the Tottenham boss refused to explain what he meant, many Spurs fans took offence to his statement, accusing him of not understanding what the rivalry with Arsenal means to the fans.

Postecoglou is not one to make friends with Spurs players

Some might even feel that there were similarities between Postecoglou’s rant and the ones Conte produced last season, but Allnutt insisted that there is hardly anything in common between the two.

The journalist told The Tottenham Way Podcast: “He apparently doesn’t talk to players one-to-one much. There is no cosiness, people thought that when Postecoglou took over he was a cuddly 60-year-old Australian, but it’s nothing like that.

“It’s nothing like that, when people draw comparisons with the Conte rant, it’s not come full circle because the style of play is completely different and the way he is around the training ground is completely different, you speak to people and he’s nothing like Conte in that way.”

The only similarity between Ange and Conte is that both of them have ultimate faith in their own system and way of doing things and both have showcased a ruthless tendency.

However, they are obviously very different not just in their footballing ideas but also in accepting responsibility for defeats, with Ange being much more open to accepting blame while his predecessor shielded himself from criticism by throwing the players under the bus.
