Dua Lipa Gets Tall in Platform Horsebit Shoes for Gucci Cruise 2024 Front Row
Dua Lipa is still in her dark era.
The “Radical Optimism” singer wore black platform Gucci slingback shoes to the brand’s cruise 2025 show, which was held at Tate Modern in London on Monday.
Lipa has recently been opting for a dark color palette and edgy styles. In April, while she was promoting her album, she hit New York in a series of black shoes, including pointed-toe Jeffrey Campbell knee-high boots that she wore multiple times and black croc-embossed slingback stilettos.
The show is creative director Sabato de Sarno’s third collection. In the front row, it boasted others like Paul Mescal, Demi Moore, Kate Moss, Salma Hayek Pinault, Law Roach, and Solange Knowles. Lipa sat beside her sister, Rina Lipa.
About the shoe
Lipa wore what the brand calls their “Horsebit” mule. The shoe features a slingback design with a buckle fastening. Made of leather, it also includes a significant block heel and chunky platform. At the vamp it includes the double ring and bar, which hearkens back to the original 1953 Gucci horsebit loafer, which itself was a miniature version of the metal rings in a horse’s bridle.
The hardware on Lipa’s version is silver, in line with the hardware on the shoes from Sarno’s collection. Prior iterations and the one currently available for sale on Gucci’s website feature brass hardware. The shoe is currently available for $1,190.
Dua Lipa’s shoe style
Lipa has an extensive shoe collection, ranging from Maison Margiela Tabi ballet flats to thigh-high snakeskin Christian Louboutin boots. Since 2020, she has been an ambassador for and collaborator with Puma. In addition, she released a 2023 collection in partnership with Versace that included styles like an Aevitas platform heel.
For much of her career, Lipa has been linked to stylist Lorenzo Posocco. Leading up to the Met Gala, her looks have been credited to Jahleel Weaver, best known for his extensive work with Rihanna.
