LEADERSHIP, A SACRED CALLING BY GOD TO SERVE – SANWO-OLU
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has said that leadership should not be seen as a title or position but rather a sacred calling by God to serve, guide, and uplift the congregation of the people of God in their spiritual journey.
Mr. Governor gave the charge on Saturday at the investiture of the newly elected Chairman and Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Surulere District, Special Apostle, Pastor George Oluwadare Ogunleye.
In his address read by the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Sanwo-Olu, remarked that it was imperative to reflect on the profound responsibilities that come with leadership in the house of God, which includes spiritual guidance, shepherding the flock, prayer and admiration amongst others.
He congratulated Special Apostle Ogunleye on his investiture and prayed for fresh anointing, wisdom, and strength to lead the church and fulfil God’s purpose for his calling at this time.
He equally urged the church members to imbibe a culture of love and understanding by upholding their faith in fellowship as they pursue righteousness and support the new leader to fulfil the mission and vision of the church.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, while attesting to the Man of God’s dedication to the gospel and spiritual growth, also expressed confidence that the church will continue to flourish and shine as a beacon of hope under his leadership.
In his inaugural speech, Special Apostle Ogunleye appreciated God, his predecessor, and the church community for the confidence reposed in him to lead. He pledged to concentrate on spiritual growth and walking in obedience and faith.
Apostle Ogunleye added that the major thrust of his leadership will be Mathew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, every other thing will be added”.
The high point of the investiture ceremony was the presentation of the staff of the office and the certificate to the chairman and church leader.
