Flash floods in Baghlan province kill 315, Ministry reports
Following the recent floods in Baghlan province, the Ministry of Refugee Affairs has published statistics showing that 315 people have died and another 1,630 have been injured as a result of the deadly floods in Baghlan province.
The Ministry of Refugee Affairs wrote on its social media platform X on Sunday, May 12, that the floods have killed 315 people and injured 1,630 in the villages of Sheikh Jalal and the Salh township of Central Baghlan district and Sharshar of the Barkeh district.
According to the ministry’s statement, a total of 2,665 residential houses have been partially or completely destroyed.
Officials in the Ministry of Refugee Affairs state that about 1,000 livestock have also perished as a result of these floods.
Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, expressed solidarity with the flood victims in Baghlan and with the citizens of Afghanistan.
The statement mentioned that the United Nations and its partners in Afghanistan are working with the Taliban administration’s authorities to assess needs and provide emergency aid to those affected by the floods.
