WITH temperatures hotting up across the UK many of us will be dreaming of air conditioning as we try to beat the heat.
However, with air conditioning units costing hundreds if not thousands of pounds, people are looking for more frugal ways to cool down.
And one savvy DIY fan has revealed how they created their own air conditioning unit out of things they already had lying around.
Taking to Reddit they shared a snap of their contraption that they had put together during a particularly hot caravan trip.
Captioning the photo, they wrote: “It was hot on our camping trip so we made an AC unit.
“You just empty a bag of ice in the cooler and then it blows out cold air”
The unit is made up of a styrofoam ice cooler filled with ice, a wireless desk fan as well as a plastic drain pipe corner piece.
The crafty camper then created a small vent in the ice cooler, directing the air from the vent into the cooler filled with ice.
They then made a small hole in the other end of the cooler and affixed the piece of plastic piping in that.
Once the fan is turned on the air flow being generated by the fan will be cooled by the ice before filtering out through the pipe.
Fellow redditors were seriously impressed with the gadget, applauding the design in the comments.
