ONE homeowner has shared his cheap tricks for cutting down on laundry day drying time.
His simple cleaning commandments will also make your towels and jeans fluffier.
A laundry pro shared his tricks for getting fluffier towels in less time (stock image)[/caption]“If you have a place to put up a clothesline, then hang your heavy items such as towels and blue jeans,” said Redditor carljh.
He then recommends drying the rest of your clothes in the dryer.
Don’t worry, there is a method to this frugal laundry madness.
He explained how once the towels and jeans are dry, they will be “stiff and scratchy.”
You’ll want to pay extra close attention to this next step.
Repeat the same thing for the next load, with one small addition.
He suggested removing and hanging the towels and jeans but putting the “dry and stiff towels” from the dryer with that next load.
The best part is yet to come as he explained how the next load will dry even faster.
Get ready to feel all that fluffiness as your towels are about to get “soft again.”
His cost-saving tip also cuts down on time – a lot of time.
“This will cut your drying time by a third or more because the dry towels and jeans absorb the water from the wet shirts and underwear and provide a greater surface area for evaporation,” he said.
One reader who also wanted the same fluffy feel but was unable to use a clothesline due to humidity came up with their own solution.
“So recently I put up about 100 feet of line all over my mostly unused attic,” they said.
“It takes about a day for them to dry up there, but at least they don’t get rained on or get wet from dew overnight, and they do eventually dry out,” they added.
Others shared their own towel drying tips.
Morgan LaLonde, brand manager at Whirlpool, told The U.S. Sun how to get your towels soft and fluffy and keep them that way.
“I put shirts, and underwear in the dryer for one minute and then hang dry. It gets the wrinkles out and they are not stiff,” they said.
“Jeans and towels I will put in for maybe five to ten minutes. Same. The only thing I dry all the way is the sheets. I want to make the bed,” they continued.
According to the professionals at Appliance Center, this is indeed a proven method.
They explained how adding already dry items to a load will help clothes dry faster.
They also recommend cleaning out the lint trap.
They described how a buildup of lint “keeps the moisture trapped in the dryer with your clothing.”
