Cher Gives the Honest Reason Why She Only Dates Younger Men

Actress and singer Cher has earned herself a reputation for being something of a man-eater over the years, having dated a string of high profile men from her first husband, Sonny Bono, to Tom Cruise, Richie Sambora, Val Kilmer, and so on. But since 2022, the 77-year-old has been linked to music executive Alexander "AE" Edward, who is nearly 40 years her junior at just 38 years old.

And during an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show this week, the Moonstruck star explained why she tends to date younger men. The subject came up when Hudson asked Cher about rumors that she had once turned down Elvis Presley.

The two megastars found themselves single around the same time, as Presley divorced his wife Priscilla Presley in 1973 and Cher's marriage to Bono ended in 1974. She's previously admitted that the King of Rock and Roll had once invited her to spend a weekend with him, but it never came to fruition.

"It was because I was nervous, and I knew the people around him," Cher explained. "And it wasn't that they were bad people, it was just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation. I’m really shy when I’m not working and kind of shy around men."

"And the reason I go out with young men is because men my age or older—well, now they’re all dead," she quipped. "But before, they were always just terrified to approach me, and younger men were the only ones that [Hudson interjected that younger men are "bold"] yeah, raised by women like me."

That's why it just goes to show why you should always shoot your shot. And with attitudes changing about age gaps in relationships, the majority of women now say they are open to dating younger men. Be advised, fellas.
