ONE dog sitter shared which breed also exhibits some bad behaviors.
She certainly had enough experience taking care of the cranky canine to know that she would never own one herself.
No more difficulty doggy attitude for her.
The breed might look innocent enough, but she was here to set the record straight.
It turns out the beagle is one fussy Fido.
“I sit a little beagle somewhat regularly and although she’s sweet, she is a handful,” said Redditor savvygmoew.
She explained what made the pooch so problematic.
“She is the most stubborn dog I have ever met in my life,” she said.
If you want a breed that will easily follow your commands, you might want to rethink getting this smart but strong-willed canine.
“She is completely untrainable to an extent because she knows what you want her to do, but if she doesn’t want to do it, then she just won’t,” she said.
And that wasn’t the only issue she had with the beagle breed.
“She’s also extremely loud,” she said.
Despite her best efforts, the dog didn’t give up on making herself heard – and she always succeeded.
“She’s very dog and people reactive so I tried to walk her when no one was out – early in the morning and late at night – but if we crossed paths with any other dog, she would just plop on the ground and scream-howl,” she said.
“She never went to sniff them or anything, just would scream from a distance,” she added.
Dr. Sara Ochoa has been practicing veterinary medicine for over five years.
She told The U.S. Sun observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that they might act out.
“A dog that looks tense all over with its fur sticking up or teeth showing is more likely to snap,” she said.
“Staring real hard without blinking could mean trouble too.
“Growling is also a warning the dog is getting mad.”
She said dogs may tuck their tail between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.
“Staying calm and keeping space may help things not to escalate if a dog seems on edge,” she said.
“Beagles are just crazy, I couldn’t have one.”
She didn’t need any more howling headaches.
According to The American Kennel Club, the beagle is a “playful” and “merry” breed, but they will require some patience and “positive reinforcement” during the training process.
These active dogs also require at least one hour of exercise every day to release their energy.
And most importantly, don’t leave them alone.
Bred to work in packs, beagles are “happiest when they have company.”
When left by themselves for extended periods, whether indoors or outside, the breed can even become “deconstructive.”
