Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Not Announced Despite End of Deadline Due to THIS Reason!

Karachi: The deadline for the submission of the T20 World Cup squad by the ICC is over. While all teams have submitted their respective squads, Pakistan is yet to reveal theirs. There is already much speculation over why is the announcement being delayed. The PCB has decided to submit their World T20 Cup squad either on May 23 or 24 May. May 24 is the final deadline set by the ICC for the submission of the squads. The PCB and selectors are concerned over niggling injuries to Muhammad Rizwan, Azam Khan, Irfan Khan Niazi and Haris Rauf and will observe them and performances in Ireland and England.

“It (delay) doesn’t matter because all these teams can change their entire squad by 24th May after that changes can only be allowed on fitness or injury basis with approval of the technical committee,” a PCB source said.

“That is why the PCB and selectors have decided to hold off until after the first match in England,” the source added.

“For the time being we have sent a provisional squad to the ICC for public relations and promotion purposes,” the source added further.

PCB is slated to announce the squad for the T20 WC after the first T20I versus England.
