Everton in danger of administration as proposed 777 takeover nears collapse
The long-drawn-out Everton takeover by 777 partners is about to crash and burn, forcing the club to call in a leading firm of restructuring and insolvency advisers, Teneo.
The future of the club hangs in the balance, and there’s a real chance the Toffees could be plunged into administration, which is often accompanied by significant points deduction.
The Guardian reports that 777 had pledged a further £15 million loan to Everton this month, but that has yet to materialise, leaving the club financially stranded.
The loan would have pushed their total borrowings from the American firm past the £200m mark in the seven months since 777 announced their intention to acquire Everton.
Adding fuel to the fire, 777’s low-cost airline, Bonza, recently entered administration in Australia.
There are also reports of unpaid fees to their Public Relations firm in the United Kingdom, which paints an even bleaker picture of their financial security.
These developments suggest 777 will struggle to complete the takeover, which could bear dire consequences for Everton, who are already struggling to pay their bills.

This entire conundrum comes barely a month after Everton owner Farhad Moshiri assured the fans that the 777 takeover was nearing its completion.
Another creditor group, MSP Sports Capital and its partners have also loaned Everton around £160m, which is secured against the club’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
According to corporate documents, MSP’s loan is also secured against a significant portion of Moshiri’s ownership stake, so they could seize control of Everton if the debt is not repaid sooner rather than later.
Everton have already ensured they will remain a Premier League team for the 71st consecutive season after picking up three wins on the bounce, including an epic Merseyside derby victory over Liverpool.
However, the long-term future of the club is far from secure, leaving the fans with mixed emotions and a gnawing sense of uncertainty.
