The Mariners take on the Diamondbacks on ‘90s Night
After a win last night on Turn Ahead the Clock Night, the Mariners stay vintage with 90’s Night. And now that I have typed “vintage” and “90’s” in the same sentence I will be retreating to my corner to turn into dust, enjoy the cap with Jake, everybody.
The Diamondbacks are sending their first-rounder in 2020, Slade Cecconi, to the mound to make his second start of the season. Cecconi debuted last year for Arizona and was sent to Triple-A to begin this year, but was called up in place of injured starter Merrill Kelly, who has a strained teres major. This will be his second start of the season. The Mariners will get an opportunity to see another fastball-forward pitcher, although they’ll have to guard against Cecchoni’s swing-and-miss slider. The D-Backs are mixing up their lineup some, starting speedster Jake McCarty in the leadoff spot and putting rookie Blaze Alexander in at shortstop.

The Mariners will be running out the same lineup, in the same order, as they did last night:

Unfortunately, there was some negative pregame news regarding Matt Brash, who “didn’t bounce back right” after his last extended outing. He’ll be shut down indefinitely and will fly to Dallas this week for another consultation with sports injury specialist Dr. Keith Meister to “examine possible options.”
