Virat Kohli, RCB Can Still Qualify For IPL 2024 Playoff Without Getting Into NNR Scenario

Bengaluru: Most Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans reckon that there is no chance of making it to IPL 2024 playoff after having lost seven out of eight matches this season. But, hold on, they can still make the playoff without even having to bother about the NRR. How is that possible? So, they will first have to win their remaining six games and finish with 14 points. If things fall into place, 14 points could actually be good enough for them to go through. Remember, the chances are slim, but there is a chance for sure.

The ideal scenario for RCB is to hope that the top three teams – Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad – keep winning and seal the three playoff berths. That would mean there is spot for only one team as about three to four teams will get into the middle muddle.

Hypothetical Scenario:

Let us assume that the high-flying Royals win four of their remaining six, and then the Knight Riders and Sunrisers win five of their remaining seven, then they will finish on 22, 20 and 20 points respectively. In that case, it is possible that RCB, with 14 points, will finish fourth with the other teams on 12 or fewer points.

For RCB, they have to start winning from tonight. And it will not be easy against the in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad.
