Eric Dier could not hide his happiness after helping knock Tottenham’s fiercest rivals out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Tottenham man has become a bit of a laughing stock among English football fans over the last year or two and arguably unfairly so.
Ahead of the Champions League quarterfinal showdown, plenty of Arsenal fans even scoffed at the idea that a team with Dier in their backline could be a match for them.
It was the 30-year-old who had the last laugh as he delivered a defensive masterclass at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday to help his side keep a clean sheet and emerge 1-0 winners.
The result sent Mikel Arteta’s men packing and the former Tottenham man admitted that it felt nice to knock out an old enemy.
