Hero Taco Bell manager saves baby who stopped breathing in drive-thru
A Taco Bell manager turned into a hero after rushing out to save a customer’s baby who had stopped breathing in the drive-thru.
Natasha Long and her 11-week-old son, Myles, pulled up to the fast food restaurant in Richboro, Pennsylvania, to order food when he began experiencing difficulty breathing.
‘I ran out of the car and ran around and opened the car door. I pulled him out and he turned completely blue and was lifeless,’ Long told WPVI.
‘At that point I just completely blacked out. I didn’t know what to do.’
Long screamed in panic and was heard by Taco Bell Manager Becky Arbaugh, who was working inside the restaurant.
‘I threw my headset. I ran outside,’ Arbaugh told the TV station. ‘I took the baby and I started to do chest compressions on the baby and then he finally started to breathe.’
CCTV showed the manager performing CPR on Myles.
Arbaugh, who is a mother-of-two, then told Long what to do and comforted her as they waited for paramedics to arrive.
Myles was rushed to St Christopher’s Hospital for Children. It was not immediately know what caused him to have breathing problems.
Long called Arbaugh the next day to thank her.
‘We couldn’t be more grateful to Becky,’ Long said. ‘She saved my son’s life.’
Despite her heroic action, Arbaugh did not consider herself a guardian angel or anything of the sort, but rather just a regular mom.
‘When my kids were little, my daughter had a similar incident, so I knew what she was feeling,’ she said. ‘I knew if I kept her calm and I stayed calm, there was no thought in my mind that the baby wasn’t going to breathe again.’
Arbaugh even offered to watch Myles in the hospital so his parents could have a break.
The two mothers have been in contact since the terrifying incident on Saturday and it appears to be the start of a lifelong friendship.
‘I just thought of myself as a mom with another mom that needed help,’ Arbaugh said.
