Scratch Kitchen set to open in Glens Falls

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Denver Semon has worked as a chef for over 20 years, mainly in fine dining and dinner service. Now, she's opening up Scratch Kitchen, a cafe and bakery at 199 Warren Street in Glens Falls.

"I wanted to make a change in my life as being a chef demands a lot of hours, weekends, holidays, and so on," Semon told NEWS10. "Scratch Kitchen is a change for me because I will be focusing on breakfast and lunch, take away, and bakery items."

Semon was most recently the Executive Chef of Flight Wine Bar & Restaurant in Glens Falls. Before that, she was the Executive Chef of the Aviator Restaurant in Queensbury and Executive Chef at Jimbo's/Point O'Pines in Brant Lake.

Semon will be focusing on breakfast and lunch with the Scratch Kitchen menu featuring sandwiches, salads, baked goods and pastries, specialty coffee drinks, prepared meals, and more. She may also offer a few special dinner nights.

"All food will be from scratch and will be thoughtfully sourced," said Semon.

In addition to food and drinks, Semon will be selling flower bouquets, vegetables, and herbs at Scratch Kitchen. Semon has a nursery license and cultivates the plants on her property.

Semon does not have a set opening date yet, but she hopes to open Scratch Kitchen at the end of April or the beginning of May. To start out, the cafe's hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, but could change.
