‘Thought of everything’ – drivers left amazed by hidden features in new Skoda… including tech that prevents door dents
CAR fans have been left amazed by a selection of hidden features demonstrated in the latest Skoda Kodiaq.
The glorious seven-seater, which has recently been given an interior makeover – as well as the addition of plug-in hybrid power – is one of the brand’s best sellers and continues to impress.
In a recent video by German YouTube channel Autogefuhl – known for their in-depth, deep dive reviews of cars – fans were treated to some of the new motor’s little-known knick-knacks, including a brilliant way to prevent door dents.
In the clip, which has been viewed over 90,000 times, car expert Thomas Majchrzak explains how the door protection tech acts as a barrier to prevent adjacent car doors from hitting your door.
He said: “This is this door sill protector, it’s a very nice and easy system, so you don’t get scratches in the parking lot and so on.
“It’s not only available for the front, but also for the rear.
“It’s a very cool idea, isn’t it?”
In the corresponding TikTok video, fans were left amazed by the simple system.
One wrote: “Wow. They’ve thought of everything!”
And another said: “All cars should have this.”
However, that’s not the only cool secret about the Kodiaq, as the motor comes with a hidden umbrella that can be pulled out of a secret compartment in the inside of the passenger door – much like the Skoda Superb.
Thomas even likens the added extra to a Rolls-Royce, who also famously install luxury umbrellas in a secret part of the door.
The umbrella isn’t the only useful tool either, as the Kodiaq comes with a handy ice scraper that can be pulled out of the fuel or charging flap.
The Kodiaq isn’t the first motor to come with this little tool though, as the VW i.D Buzz also comes with a scrap of plastic in its centre console that’s perfect for scraping ice in the winter.
Meanwhile, in other Skoda news, the Czech brand recently revealed their plans to continue making petrol and diesel motors for the next ten years.
An old, battered Skoda was recently sold to a scrap yard for just £15… but the former owner was shocked to learn it was snapped up for £1,000s more in a fierce bidding battle.
