I’m 36 and never wear dark eyeliner – my trick gives a softer look that reverses your age, it only takes a minute
A MAKEUP fan has shared a technique that turned back the clock.
The 36-year-old explained that thanks to the anti-aging makeup trick, she doesn’t need to wear eyeliner.
Beth (@bethmellem) shared the beauty technique in a viral Instagram video.
“I wish I knew this trick sooner,” she said.
“It took me 36 years to learn this trick but I’m going to teach you in one minute.”
Instead of a dark eyeliner, she opts for eyeshadow for a “softer” look.
The effect, she explained, “ages you backward compared to the dark harsh looking eyeliner.”
Instead of applying the eyeshadow in areas where you would an eyeliner, she revealed that a special placement was key to the anti-aging look.
She grabbed a small-ended brush and loaded it up with a medium to dark eyeshadow color.
Beth covered the area along her bottom lashes with the shadow, gently blending as she went.
She explained that the technique gave users the smoky eyeliner look without the harsh effect that made the eyes look smaller.
She urged viewers to try the trick for themselves if they hadn’t already.
Many agreed that the trick was simple but went a long way.
“What a coincidence! Two days ago I couldn’t find my eyeliner so I took a small stiff brush, dipped it in my brow powder and used it for eyeliner,” said one commenter.

One woman added that the technique was great for those who preferred the “less is more” makeup look.
“I don’t know where I learned it from because I never really wear makeup but I remember doing that for prom and it looked really great,” she said.
“If you don’t normally wear makeup, like me, I think many would find that they feel less ‘not myself’ with softer makeup when they DO get dolled up for an occasion.”
For those who were concerned about the eyeshadow staying on, a trick prevents smudging and flaking.
“My eyeliner never stays on, so eye shadow definitely won’t stay on,” sighed one viewer.
A makeup artist offered their advice to make the technique last as long as possible.
