A flood warning is in effect for parts of the state along the Connecticut River, including Hartford County, while western parts of the state may see hail.
The flood warning is in effect from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday morning, when minor flooding is in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
Flooding is expected along the river in parts of Wethersfield, Glastonbury, Rocky Hill and Cromwell as rain moves into the area.
On Sunday afternoon, there is a 90% chance of rain with temperature highs of 63 degrees and winds up to 15 mph, the NWS said.
Parts of Windsor may also be impacted by flooding while further downstream, floods are expected in Portland, Middletown and Chester.
High waters and swift flows are expected to disrupt some ferry services across the river and some river roads may become impassable, according to the NWS.
The weather service is warning residents to use caution when traveling near riverbanks and to “turn around, don’t drown” if they encounter flooded roads while driving.
On Sunday night, one or two rain showers will be possible with partly cloudy skies overnight and a 40% chance of rain, the NWS said.
The western part of the state may experience hail as Sunday morning’s dry weather gives way to a cold front that will cause widespread showers throughout the region, according to the NWS.
