'He’ll be 82 years old. Is that what you want?' GOP official frets over a Trump 2028 run
A Republican party official who was a founder of her state's "Women for Trump" advocacy group is admitting she is not enthused with the former president's third bid for the Oval Office and hopes that, if he doesn't win, he will just go away.
According to a profile in the Guardian digging into Donald Trump's voter woes in the key swing state of Wisconsin, local activist Terri Burl bluntly admitted she is "not excited" by the 2024 campaign and is making a unique pitch to some "Never Trump" Republicans that Trump will go away afterward they give him just one more chance to beat President Joe Biden.
Speaking with the Guardian's Chris McGreal, Burl stated, "I don’t feel excited. But I have a bunch of ‘Never Trump’ friends and this is my argument to them: I say, you better vote for Trump or you get Biden,” before adding, "Not only that. If you don’t vote for Trump, and then he doesn’t win, he’s going to come back in four years. The boogeyman will be back. He’ll be 82 years old. Is that what you want? Just let him have his four years and then you won’t have to put up with him anymore.”

According to the profile, the former president is facing a problem with female voters in Wisconsin similar to what he will be dealing with in other states: his part in the overturn of Roe v. Wade.
That has Burl working overtime to secure their votes.
"I’m kind of mad at the Republicans about abortion. I don’t think the Supreme Court should have been involved. The minute they got involved, the Democrats can use that as fodder about Republicans. If you vote for Republicans you’re not going to get control of your own body. It motivates Democrats to go vote,” she explained. "I can’t stand abortion but you can’t just totally ban it. There were Republicans who wanted a compromise.”
She also took aim at far-right GOP lawmakers who are also making her job harder, singling out Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) by name.
“She’s such a wackadoodle. What do these people want? These are Republicans. I can’t even deal with these people. I can’t take them seriously. They’re ruining it for us because then everybody’s looking at them and saying, ‘Is this who you want to lead?’ They are damaging to the party,” she complained.
