Walt Nauta told the FBI Trump storage boxes contained 'hoarded' hairspray cans and shampoo

According to a transcript detailing the FBI's secretive conversation with Donald Trump aide Walt Nauta, the bodyman for the former president said he peeked into some of the storage boxes the former president was stashing in Mar a Lago — and that Trump was quite the hoarder of hair care products.

Screenshots of the transcript, posted by Law & Crime, demonstrate that Nauta was careful when answering FBI interrogators and that he was speaking to them while his employer thought he was out jogging.

That, in turn, led investigators to suggest he return to work "sweaty" so that the former president wouldn't know he had been answering questions.

As for the storage boxes that are central to the Department of Justice investigation of Trump for obstruction of justice, Nauta was asked about what was in them after other witnesses saw him carrying them at Mar-a-Lago.

With an investigator claiming they were getting "conflicting stories," Nauta explained there were "multiple storage rooms" he went in and out of.

Pressed on the boxes he was spotted carrying, he claimed he did take a look at what they contained.

"But now you've looked inside these boxes? " he was asked.

"His personal items," he stated before adding, "So that's it."

A second interrogator replied, "So when you say personal items, what, what are personal items? Maybe we're..."

"Hairspray, shampoo," the Trump aide interrupted.

"And so this stuff is stored in the storage rooms?' he was asked to which he replied, "Yes. He is quite the hoarder with these particular items. Deodorant — you know, multiple hairspray cans. That's — yeah.

According to Politico's Kyle Cheney, the transcript contains, "Some interesting tidbits in Walt Nauta’s May 2022 interview with the FBI. They clearly had some doubts about his veracity and whether he had been coached in his answers. They repeatedly emphasized that he had apparently misled Trump to meet with the FBI."
