Donald Trump's GOP foe is now quietly vowing to raise money for him: report

An NBC report claims Donald Trump's early Republican primary foe has pledged to help fundraise for the presumptive nominee — but he is so far only letting select supporters know.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who doesn't have an election in 2024, told donors at a private retreat Saturday that he intends to help Trump, whose campaign is blowing through cash as he uses donations to pay for mounting legal fees.

One insider confirmed, “He did say it in front of a group of people at the Hard Rock.” However, they downplayed the involvement, saying that DeSantis has pledged to support all Republicans on the ballot, "including presidential."

Despite his overwhelming success in raising anti-Trump money from predominantly Florida donors, DeSantis has now clearly motivated those same donors to back the presumptive nominee, one NBC source explained.

“I would say the majority in the room would now be willing to help Trump,” the source said after the meeting.

A fundraiser who was present at the event agreed that DeSantis bundlers are now likely to join the Trump campaign despite the previous political wars.

“I will follow the governor’s lead, and I will do anything that he or President Trump ask me to do to help him win this election,” Texas businessman Roy Bailey told NBC.

“I know where there are DeSantis supporters all over Texas and all over the country that will want to help President Trump. So that’s what I’ll try to make happen,” he also said.

The Trump campaign said that they didn't know that DeSantis would be helping raise money, but said everyone in the GOP should be helping elect him.

The same day DeSantis hosted his retreat, Trump held his massive corporate fundraiser, which he claimed raised $50.5 million.

DeSantis dropped out of the race in January after a brutal campaign that saw him become Trump's number one target.

In the money race, President Joe Biden's campaign claimed he and the Democratic committees raised more than $90 million just last month.
