Owner of massive illegal dump rants at ‘dirty, lying, sons of bitches’ council
A 10-year battle between a council and a man who let his land become an illegal dumping ground rages on after the latest legal saga.
Langley Beck has been told on multiple occasions to clear away the clapped out old vehicles, piles of waste, shipping containers, tyres and furniture, but has failed to do so.
His land has become a 14-hectare blot on what would be a stunning landscape in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
In the latest chapter of this story he was due to be sentenced on Friday.
However, he did not have legal representation after his lawyers withdrew their services because they had not been paid. It is the third such delay.
Without anyone to speak on his behalf, Beck told the court that he had faced ’21 years of persecution by those dirty, lying, sons of bitches (the council)’ and he described described the court case as ‘an invitation to a neck-tie party’.
He has now been warned that he faces an unlimited fine at the next hearing in five weeks time, regardless of whether he secures legal representation.
Recorder Edmund Fowler told him at Maidstone Crown Court: ‘I give you this one opportunity to get representation. But if you come back without representation, the case will proceed anyway.
‘If you do not appear, a warrant will be issued for your arrest.’
He had previously been convicted of contempt of court for failing to comply with a previous order to clear up the land, and was given a four-month prison sentence suspended for two years.
He was also banned for life from keeping animals after locking up dogs in their own filth – and failing to let ducks have water.
