Congress leader Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination papers from Wayanad, Kerala, and emphasized the upcoming Lok Sabha election as a fight for democracy and the Constitution of India. He won Wayanad in 2019 with over four lakh votes, losing from his traditional Amethi seat in Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi's main rival, Annie Raja of CPI, filed her nomination, accusing him of neglecting his constituency. BJP, with a small presence in Wayanad, fielded Kerala chief K Surendran to challenge Gandhi.
