Legendary ITV thriller returning to screens this month a whopping 27 years on from first ever episode
ITV has confirmed that a legendary crime-thriller will be returning to screens for a 25th season after a whopping 27 years on air.
The detective drama has been a British TV staple since its debut in 1997.
And after 22 crime-filled seasons, Midsomer Murders recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and will be making a comeback in less than two weeks.
The hit ITV series based on the novels by Caroline Graham follows the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and later his successor and cousin John Barnaby to crack a series of murders in the fictional county of Midsomer.
Season 24 of Midsomer Murders originally aired from December 4, 2023, to December 25, 2023.
The series was executively produced by Brian True-May, Jo Wright, Jonathan Fisher, and Michele Buck.
The cast included Neil Dudgeon as DCI John Barnaby, Fiona Dolman as Sarah Barnaby, Isabel Shaw as Betty Barnaby, Nick Hendrix as DS Jamie Winter, and Annette Badland as Dr. Fleur Perkins. The other cast members include Manjinder Virk, Gwilym Lee, Tamzin Malleson, Kirsty Dillon, Daniel Casey, John Nettles, Jane Wymark, Laura Howard, Barry Jackson, John Hopkins, Jason Hughes, and more.
The same cast will likely reprise their roles in the upcoming new series, which kicks off on April 14.
The official synopsis for series 24 of Midsomer Murders reads: “The peacefulness of the Midsomer community is shattered by violent crimes, suspects are placed under suspicion, and it is up to a veteran DCI and his young sergeant to calmly and diligently eliminate the innocent and ruthlessly pursue the guilty.”
Last season, Midsomer Murders fans were all left saying the same thing as This Morning star Holly Willoughby made her acting debut on the murder mystery show.
The TV presenter made a brief cameo on the programme in a shock career move.
Midsomer Murders will air on ITV1 on April 14.
