Wedding guest is told her floral dress ‘screams bridal’ – fans insist it’s lovely but critics warn it’s too ‘look at me’
A WEDDING guest has given her take on what to wear to the upcoming matrimonial event.
She posted the dress to the internet, with many saying the style is way too close to bridal for comfort.
Redditor SendMePupperMessages shared a picture of the look in a post to the social media platform.
“Hello, found another dress I fell in love with, so I’m back again for advice,” she said.
“The theme for this outdoor July wedding is ‘Garden Cocktail,’ with one of the colors guests are encouraged to wear being this pale lilac color.”
She expressed that she wasn’t 100% comfortable with the frock, but chose it due to the dress code.
“My main concern is that the design of the dress itself might be too bridal, although it fits the theme perfectly in my opinion,” she said.
“In real life, the color of the entire dress is more similar to the more saturated purple parts of the ruffled hem.
“It is made from a linen-silk blend, so the fabric does look a bit dressier than pictured.”
YES OR NO TO THE DRESS
Several Redditors chimed in on the look, with dress critics divided on the appropriateness.
“Absolutely lovely,” one wrote. “The material doesn’t scream ‘Shein clearance section.’
“A silk linen blend will have a lovely luster, it’s a summer wedding with a garden theme, this is great.
“Different doesn’t mean ‘main character.’
“If someone wants their guests all in conservative and or understated attire, the onus is on them to communicate that.
“They said garden and you’re bringing the flowers.”
Others seriously disagreed with the sentiment that the dress is appropriate for a wedding.
