We’re just a few days into baseball’s regular season, and the uniforms remain the focus of many fans and players — just as they were in spring training.
As part of MLB’s partnership with Nike and Fanatics since 2020, Nike has designed and spec’d the uniforms for Fanatics to produce. And some significant changes were made to the jersey system, pants and design at Nike’s direction for this season.
Needless to say, those changes — which included smaller and more curved name fonts, more printed-on materials and see-through pants — were not met kindly by players and fans as the jerseys appeared cheap but retailed for significantly more than older editions.
It got to the point where the MLBPA set out to address the issues with Nike and Fanatics. But few changes appeared to be made in time for the regular season. Some players even continued to wear the old versions of the pants.
Here’s a look at what the MLB uniforms looked like for each team in baseball’s opening weekend.
