'Find a federal prison': GOP ruthlessly mocked for plan to rename Dulles airport for Trump
The House GOP unveiled a proposal Tuesday to rename Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport after Donald Trump — and it predictably was met with a wave of hilarity on social media.
The proposal, introduced by Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and which gained about half a dozen additional Republican co-sponsors, aims to name the hub the "Donald J. Trump International Airport."
The flood of commentary from Trump's critics was immediate, one of whom was Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), who told Politico that Trump "is facing 91 felony charges. If Republicans want to name something after him, I’d suggest they find a federal prison."
According to Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA), the proposal is "just another in a long list of instances" of House Republicans demonstrating "how unserious and delusional they are."

"Let's get to work on the real issues the American people sent us here for, not renaming an airport after someone who sought to undermine our democracy," she added.
Trump's critics on X also slammed the proposal, with one user writing, "After their second two-week vacation in six weeks, the [House GOP] has come back to D.C. with the brilliant and super important idea of renaming Dulles International Airport to Donald 'Not A Rapist, It Was Just Sexual Assault' Trump Airport."
"Dulles is an old, ugly airport that no one wants to see. So I think this is a fitting tribute to 45," wrote Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA).
"Keep Dulles. If the taint-licking Trumpanzees wanna name airports after the Tangerine S---gibbon, let them find the ones he said the Continental Army took over from the British during the Revolution," wrote an X user.
"You should only rename Washington Dulles International Airport to Trump International Airport if you want the airport to go bankrupt some day," wrote another X user.
The Washington-area airport is currently named for former Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, but has garnered a reputation of being a less-than-favorable experience for customers.
