If you thought the nice spring sunshine was here to stay you’ll be disappointed because heavy April showers are on the way.
The Met Office has warned Brits will face rain for the next 14 days, and this week we will experience everything from strong winds, to rain, and some sunny spells.
Temperature wise there is some good news because it will remain above average for this time of year and will climb to 18°C this weekend for parts of the east and south east.
It follows a mixed Easter weekend where those in the south basked in 18°C while those in the north suffered with chillier conditions.
All of this comes after a much wetter than average March, according to Met Office data.
Much of the UK will see heavy rain into this evening and overnight and the rest of the week looks much the same – unsettled.
Temperatures today across the south have peaked at 16°C, but in Northern Ireland they have only reached 13°C, and in Scotland its even worse at 11°C.
Met Office forecaster Greg Dewhurst said: ‘It turns wetter and windier through Thursday and towards the end of the week.
‘So further showers and longer spells of rain pushing through on Thursday, Friday and into Saturday.
‘The winds start to pick up too but the wind is coming in from the south which keeps temperatures above average.
‘It’s possible we will get some brighter spells but the winds will pick up too, so it might not feel quite so pleasant, particularly with showery rain across the country.’
While there are no weather warnings over the coming weeks, there are 94 flood alerts in place for England across central southern areas.
The Met Office added: ‘March will go down as a mild and wet month for many, according to provisional statistics.’
