Liverpool have reportedly joined the chase for Palmeiras wonderkid Luis Guilherme, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds have added their name to a growing list of clubs monitoring the 18-year-old Brazilian.
Guilherme has impressed for the Copa Libertadores champions, earning appearances in the prestigious South American competition and already representing Brazil at the Under-20 level.
His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with the Reds believed to be among several European elite closely tracking his progress.
Palmeiras has a strong track record of developing young talent. They nurtured Gabriel Jesus before his move to Manchester City and recently saw rising star Endrick secure a transfer to Real Madrid.
Nottingham Forest also benefitted from their production line, acquiring Danilo last season.
It appears Guilherme is the next exciting prospect to emerge from Palmeiras, and reports suggest fierce competition is brewing amongst European giants, all eager to secure his signature.
The versatile teenager can operate as a number 10 or a wide forward, and Brazilian media claim Palmeiras would demand a hefty fee exceeding £40 million for their prized asset.
Guilherme could be an exciting option to grow and develop at Anfield behind starters like Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah. The youngster will likely find game time hard to come by, but the experience of training with the heavyweights will massively help his game.
Also, with Salah’s contract ending in 2025, he could be the one to take the starting berth from the Egyptian when he moves on with a move to Saudi Arabia on the cards.
Diaz’s father has also suggested that they are seeking a move away from Anfield to sunny Spain, and the Reds will need a replacement for the Colombian.
Guilherme is an exciting prospect who will add flair and youth to the attacking line, but Liverpool need to fend off interest from Europe’s top sides to secure his signature.
