‘You’ve been lied to about flawless skin’ beauty pro says as she urges people to ditch popular oil for £7.70 replacement

A SKINCARE expert has revealed that we’ve “been told lies” when it comes to getting a flawless complexion and even skin tone.

But luckily, licensed esthetician Lily Njoroge has shared the £7.70 product she recommends for banishing hyperpigmentation and bringing your skin to life.

She started her skincare blog, Cave of Beauty, in 2015 and is now an authority in beauty advice.

And her latest advice might shock people, but Lily believes it’s only right we all know.

She alleges that Bio-Oil doesn’t clear scars, particularly the stretch mark kind.

And not only that, Lily believes most people confuse hyperpigmentation with scarring – so when you’re lathering up on oil, you might actually need something more exfoliating.

“For atrophic scarring and stretch marks, unfortunately there isn’t much topically that will help,” she shared on X, previously Twitter.

“But procedures like chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and microneedling will help.

“Many people say ‘scarring’ when they really mean hyperpigmentation.

“For dark spots, you want to use a product that targets multiple steps of melanogenesis, which is the process of melanin forming.”

Lily instead recommended The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner as a “hyperpigmentation hero”.

Luckily, the award-winning formula also targets visible signs of ageing and dullness.

“Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner is an exfoliator that significantly smoothes skin texture and promotes the appearance of a more even skin tone,” The Ordinary bosses said.

“As well as more luminous skin, with regular use.

“It also reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

“The water-based toner format is suited to daily use.

“It contains a 7% concentration of Glycolic acid – a well-studied alpha-hydroxy acid – and a plant-derived Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative.”

“I’m a licensed esthetician, I’m getting my Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry to become a cosmetic chemist, and I’ve consulted in PD for some of your favourite brands,” Lily assured in her thread.

“This isn’t just me spewing silly thoughts and opinions.”
