THERE are loads of hacks out there you can try if you’re loo is ever clogged, but cleaning fans have discovered a genius tricks that works wonders if you don’t have a plunger to hand.
This comes after one woman, named Caroline, asked for advice unblocking her toilet without breaking the bank.
It’s easier than you might think to unblock your toilet without a plunger[/caption] Your loo can be clear in no time using the savvy trick[/caption]Posting in the popular Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, Caroline wrote: “How can you unblock a toilet?
“I have tried white vinegar, baking soda and a lot of other remedies. Still no joy, is it time to call a plumber?”
Luckily, the cleaning fans had plenty of tricks up their sleeves to help out, but one of the best ones was to use a cheap and cheerful mop from B&M to clear the blockage.
“I always find a bin bag, wrap it around the head of my mop then use it like a plunger,” one cleaning fan wrote.
“It fills the bottom of the toilet it creates really good suction and clears the blockage quickly (providing it’s just tissue) I had this tip from a plumber and it’s never failed me!”
Another keen cleaner agreed: “Plunge it with a mop. Works every time!”
“Put a mop down your loo and pump it,” someone else wrote.
“The mop was the best tip I ever received. So simple and works instantly. Thanks for the reminder,” another chimed in.
The best part is if you don’t already have an old mop at home you can pick one up for as little as £3.50 from B&M.
And if you don’t have a mop – don’t panic.
The Hinch fans also suggested using cling films to get your loo working again.
I’ve never done it but I’ve read if you put cling film around the top, making it airtight then flush.”
Someone else suggested using Mr Muscle Drain Gel, “It was sorted in a few hours,” they wrote.
And another kept things simple, and recommended filling up a bucket with water and pouring it “down the loo fast.”
Start by covering the entire bowl of the toilet in the cling film – you might want to do a few layers.
Here are some tips to help you clean your home like a pro:
Then flush the toilet and push down on the cling film mid flush, but be careful not to rip through.
The water should then swirl away, leaving your toilet clear.
Once the cling film is wrapped around the toilet it’s sealed, this cuts off the air supply.
By pressing gently on the cling film you’re pushing the air back and forth – this creates a suction just like the plunger but without needing to get your hands dirty or touch the water.
Of course, it’s important to bear in mind this hack won’t work on every toilet as there may be something genuinely stuck in your toilet or you may not be able to restrict the air supply.
But if you’ve got a clogged loo and you don’t have a plunger or any unclogging products this is a great hack.
