PHOTOS: Timberline Lodge debuts new year-round pool and hot tub

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Timberline Lodge has announced the reopening of its newly remodeled pool and hot tub.

The year-round pool was completed on March 21 after more than a year of construction, which began in the fall of 2022. The pool is located in the same space as the previous one, but offers a new look and improved mountain views.

“Other features include a sloped depth of 3 to 8 feet, a hot tub with massage jets, low-level lighting, public restrooms below the skybridge and a bird-friendly, 75% glass enclosure preserving the awesome views.”

While the historic lodge is open to all visitors, those looking to swim in the new pool will need to book a room. The pool is currently only available to resort guests.

Timberline Lodge first added a pool to the property in 1958 and previously advertised the attraction as “the highest pool in the Pacific Northwest,” because it sits at an elevation of 6,000 feet.

Timberline President Jeff Kohnstamm called the remodeled pool deck a recreation of the Timberline pool experience.

“Recreating the Timberline pool experience for our guests while preserving the historic value of the Lodge is what makes Timberline a very special and unique place,” Kohnstamm is quoted saying on the resort’s website. “I could not be more excited about this new page in Timberline’s story.”
