Jaipur: The Indian Premier League got off to a cracking start with defending champions Chennai Super Kings beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the opener in Chennai. Then on the second day, Punjab Kings edged Delhi Capitals in a nail-biter and finally – KKR held their nerves to beat SRH in their opener.
On Sunday, in the first match of the double-header Sunday, Rajasthan Royals hosted Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur. Thanks to Sanju Samson’s brilliant 82*, the Royals posted a par 193 for four. The Super Giants chase got off to a horrendous start as they were reduced to 11 for three inside the powerplay. Eventually, Royals won the game by 20 runs to get their campaign off to a winning start. With the win, the Royals edged CSK to go top of the points table.
With 82 runs in Rajasthan Royals first game against the Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, Sanju Samson led from the front. His 82* came off merely 52 balls. KKR’s Andre Russell is in the second spot. Russell hit a breathtaking 64 off 25 balls against SRH. And in the third spot, there is Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 63 runs in the same game against Kolkata.
With four wickets in their opening match against RCB, Mustafizur Rahman proved that he was a good buy for the CSK side. He currently holds onto the Purple Cap after the first game. Natarajan with three wickets occupies the second spot, while KKR’s Harshit Rana has also picked up three wickets and finds himself in the third spot.
