Warming centers open in Rensselaer, Albany, Saratoga counties
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The snowy conditions on Saturday led to lots of power outages in the Capital Region, and according to National Grid NY, Rensselaer, Albany, and Saratoga counties were among the hardest hit during the storm. A few warming centers have opened in Troy, Bethlehem, Guilderland, and Waterford to combat the cold weather during these power outages.
The Troy warming center is being held at the Italian Community Center. This center is located at 1450 5th Avenue in Troy.
In Bethlehem, there are currently three open warming centers. The first one is located at the Town Hall, 445 Delaware Avenue in Delmar, and will be open until at least 3 p.m.
The second and third warming centers are located at Selkirk Fire Department stations one and three in Selkirk. These locations opened at 10 a.m. at 126 Maple Street and Bridge Street.
Guilderland Police Department has announced that five warming stations are open to the public. Guilderland Fire is open as a warming station until they close for the day.
The Guilderland Center has been open since 9:30 a.m. Westemere Fire will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Fort Hunter Fire will be open from 10 a.m. until closed.
Altamont Fire Department will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Service animals are allowed at these Guilderland warming centers.
There are two warming stations in Waterford. The Waterford-Halfmoon School at 125 Middletown Road is open until 6 p.m. with resources available in the cafeteria and the Waterford Senior Center at 125 2nd Street is open until further notice.
