External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar defended the temporary Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, stating it created separatism, violence, and terrorism, and prevented progressive laws from being extended to Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. He stated that the benefits of the change are now visible, and the Indian government abrogated Article 370 in August 2019, revoking its special status and bifurcating the state into two Union Territories.
