According to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Bologna are expected to demand a huge fee for Joshua Zirkzee as Tottenham and AC Milan circle over the centre-forward.
Zirkzee has been a big hit in Serie A since swapping Bayern Munich for Bologna, with the 22-year-old having found the back of the net 11 times and provided six assists across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Over the past month, various Italian outlets have reported that Tottenham are keeping a close eye on the Dutchman’s progress ahead of the summer window (TMW).
Corriere have now named Spurs and Milan as the two leading contenders for Zirkzee’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
The outlet suggests that Ange Postecoglou’s men are after a top-class number to fill the void left by Harry Kane and that the Serie A star fits the bill.
The report reveals that Bayern have a €40m (£34.3m) buy-back clause on Zerkzee and should that not be triggered, Bologna could demand around €60m-€70m (£51.4m-£60m) for the player.
The publication adds that Tottenham have a ‘strong interest’ in the striker and should more Premier League clubs enter the race, the price could go up even further.
Spurs Web Opinion
Clubs who are expecting Premier League sides to continue splashing the cash this summer to the same level that they did over the last couple of years are in for a big shock.
With the PSR rules now being strictly implemented, the days of English clubs spending over £50m on every Tom, Dick and Harry are now over. I would be surprised if anyone pays over £35m-£40m for Zirkzee.
