US envoy meets with Indian officials to discuss Afghanistan
Thomas West, the Special Representative of the United States for Afghanistan, held discussions with Indian officials on developing a unified diplomatic approach to support shared interests. He emphasized the need for humanitarian assistance and a “way forward” in Afghanistan for the current year.
On Friday, March 22, he said on his social media platform X, that during this trip, he met with J.P. Singh, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India for Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan, and Vinay Mohan Kwatra, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India.
The Special Representative of the United States for Afghanistan emphasized that both sides have also discussed humanitarian needs and the “way forward” in Afghanistan for the current year.
According to Thomas West, India continues to send humanitarian aid and medicine to the people of Afghanistan.
Last Monday night, he had announced the beginning of a new round of visits to India and the United Arab Emirates with a message.
Mr. West has described the purpose of his trip as “collaborating to support the people of Afghanistan.”
It is planned that the Special Representative of the United States for Afghanistan will also travel to the United Arab Emirates after India.
Mr. West has had trips and meetings with officials of countries, including regional governments, about Afghanistan over the past two years.
