PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon State Police are asking for the public’s help catching unknown poachers who are thought to have illegally shot and killed four deer in Tillamook County last year.
On Nov. 17, 2023, state troopers responded to a call at 8:30 a.m. for multiple deer shot on Stimson Timber Company Property. Responding officers found the carcasses of two dead fawns and two dead does scattered throughout a forested watershed where only youth hunting is allowed.
“Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for public assistance in locating the person(s) responsible for the waste of four black-tailed deer,” OSP stated.
“The investigation determined the deer were all shot around the same time frame — possibly during the last week or weekend of general deer season or the last weekend for youth hunters,” OSP stated. “Each animal was shot and left without salvaging any meat.”
Anyone with information about the poachings is asked to contact the Oregon State Police Dispatch and reference case no. SP23364118.
